HOKO represents an experience made of our memories from Hong Kong.
We grew up with the most fascinating tea cafes, noodles shops, open-air food stalls. These places weren't just about food; they were steeped in history, each with its own story.
These establishments shared a common interiors aesthetic, contributing to the distinctive look and feel of the city. The food quality was unparalleled, designed to meet the high standards of the discerning local palate.
HONG KONG NOSTALGIA
Sadly many old school eateries are gradually closed down as the old owners retire and the city faces economic challenges. Many Hong Kongers, including ourselves, have started new lives in the U.K., far from home.
Having been raised on countless delicious Hong Kong-style breakfasts, dim sum, pineapple buns, wonton noodles, and other great foods, it feels disheartening to lose access to these beloved flavors and nostalgic environments.
Our story began in Hong Kong, and London is where it continues. Inspired by the desire to recreate and share the nostalgic beauty of Hong Kong's old food establishments, Ryan and Nicole founded HOKO in 2021.
HOKO is where we break the rules and smash the traditions to bring freshness to the Asian food scene in London through a focus in design, authenticity and people with great minds and ideas.
